21 days Prayer & Fasting:
Day 10: The Parable of the mustard seed and the yeast
Our anchor scripture for today is found in Matthew 6: 10 (NET), which reads: “may your kingdom come, may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus asks us here to pray that the Kingdom of God and his will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the same chapter, Jesus would later say that we should seek first the Kingdom of God above all else. The Kingdom of God is the visible rule and reign of God over all of His creation. The Bible reveals that God has an agenda and that agenda is the advancement of his kingdom in the world. This is the unifying theme of scripture. God’s kingdom agenda is the visible manifestation of the comprehensive rule of God in every area of life. In Chapter 13 of Matthew, Jesus explains the principle of the Kingdom of God, though the parable of the mustard seed and the yeast. The lesson from the parable is that the Kingdom of God is alive everywhere, takes attention and patience to grow, and transforms everything it touches. The mustard seed speaks to the outward growth of the kingdom of God everywhere on the earth. While the yeast focuses on the internal growth and transformation that the gospel makes in a person’s life.
